"affection" and "affectionate" - how to say these words in Mandarin? I know "love" (爱) and "like" (喜欢). I don't know how to say "affection" and "affectionate" in Chinese. Is it 亲切? Not sure at all. It often exists between parents and their wards, teacher and students, brother and sister. So, if I say ... 我爱 你 .... does it convey the same feelings? May be somebody can misunderstand it as "love with lust", which is absolutely different from "affection". The word "深情" refers to deep emotion or deep feeling ..... am I sure it is different from 爱 ("love with lust")??? How about "感情 ".... the same????? So, next time if I tell my student ...." 你是一个很问容的女孩 " or "你是一个温柔的，感情丰富的女孩 ", am I sure her boyfriend will not jump on me?????? ... lol.... "(^_^)"
