As Peachey said, Australians eat a mixture of different foods because we are a multicultural society. If you really want a typical Australian meal it would be roast lamb with roasted vegetables.

Well, I live in America, but I'll talk about my state (Washington State) instead. [I know more about it. : )] I think our staple food is seafood, especially the different types of salmon. It's important for the coastal areas. In general, the fishing industry supports a lot of people here. Salmon is also important to a lot of the Native American tribes in my state. My favorite way to eat salmon is smoked.^^ But I like all kinds of salmon. For areas east of the mountains, apples are the staple. Many different varieties of apples are grown, and it's very very important for the economy over there. Eastern Washington is mostly known for its farms and crops.

Traditionally bread and potatoes, but that's not so much the case nowadays. Today we have an incredibly varied range of foods in our country.
