You know what you like, you don't just follow the crowd.
You understand what you (do and don't) like, you don't just follow what everyone else is doing.
用英语的话还是 want 比较好
You know what you want
还有后面那句话有很多说法：
jump on the bandwagon
follow the crowd
copy everyone else
do what everyone else is doing
.....etc.
要看你在说哪方面。
