what's the difference between "sedang" and "tengah"? As far as I know, they both mean "in the middle of something" or "~ing" in English. For example, As for, "what are you doing?", we can say, "awak sedang buat apa?" or "awak tengah buat apa?". Both sentences are exactly the same? or "sedang" is often used in a formal case?? It would be appreciated if you explain this.:)

I just wanted to flag up that 'awak' is also normally used for informal conversational purposes only. I would be quite rude to say awak in a formal setting or to someone older/unknown to you. This is especially true in written Bahasa Melayu - 'kamu' would be the preferred word to use. =)

both are the same :) generally, we use 'sedang' in essays, books etc. 'tengah' usually we use it in our daily life and it is a conversational language :D
