Could you pls give me some verbs meaning 'do sth repeatedly', such as 'pester' and 'harry'? pester: to annoy sb repeatedly harry: to attack sb repeatedly I can only think of these two verbs. Thanks! Thanks Eliot. But I'm sorry I didn't make my question explicit enough. What I really meant is I'm looking for some verbs which include the meaning of 'repeatedly'. For instance, pester, basically it means to annoy sb, but to be precise, it means to annoy sb repeatedly. So, to sum up, I'd love to know some verbs, which means: do sth (it can be anything) repeatedly. In other words, when using this verb, it would be redundant to use the adverb 'repeatedly'. The only other verb I can think of is 'harry' which means to attack sb repeatedly.

Many verbs have a secondary meaning indicating that the primary meaning was repeated. In your examples you needed to add the adverb "repeatedly" to indicate repetition. The verbs "annoy and attack" do not imply repeated actions. So I looked in a thesaurus for the verb "repeat". The primary meaning is "to do smth again/over and over". I found the following: repeat: verb Definition: duplicate, do again Synonyms: belabour, chime, come again, din, ditto*, drum into, dwell on, echo, go over again, hold over, imitate, ingeminate, iterate, make like, occur again, play back, play over, quote, read back, reappear, recapitulate, recast, reciprocate, recite, reconstruct, recrudesce, recur, redo, refashion, reform, rehash, rehearse, reissue, reiterate, relate, remake, renew, reoccur, replay, reprise, reproduce, rerun, resay, reshow, restate, retell, return, revert, revolve, rework, run over, sing same old song. * = informal/non-formal usage source: http://thesaurus.com/browse/repeat
