There is a slight difference. Don't be/get funny with me= don't try to fool me Example: Teacher: Why didn't you bring your homework today? Student: The dog ate it. Teacher: Don't get funny with me, I don't believe you .

Yea man pretty much. "Being fresh" usually implies defiance. Another phrase with very similar meaning is "Don't get smart with me."
