What's the difference between "relation" and "relationship"?
Actually, I'm not sure that those two terms have different meanings :)

Suppose you start a relation with the girl you like while sailing over the sea, you have now a relation-ship with your partner (until back into the harbour).
I suppose you might get better answers from native speakers ...
