Tues, Mar 9, 2022 In the late afternoon, I went to the daycare to pick up my daughter as usual. For nearly the past six years, my wife and I have taken her there on the daily basis, but it will finally end this month because she will enter elementary school this April. She will walk there by herself (or with her friends) without my wife or me. ( Since Japan is very safe everywhere, it's pretty common for children to walk to school without being accompanied by their parents or other adults. ) Frankly speaking, now I have mixed feelings about her graduation from the daycare. On the one hand I'm very happy because it will save my wife and I the time we have spent on the daily basis. On the other hand, however, I feel I might miss walking to and from the daycare with my daughter because it has become a part of our daily life and has given us a lot of unforgettable memories, like enjoying beautiful blossoms, greeting the neighbors, or having unexpected accidents on the way there.
