Hello!
I have two questions:
1. Let's say my friend has an interview for a new job. Can I tell him: "I will be rooting for you to get this job"?
2. I was taught that we use "while +subject + verb or while + gerund". However today I came across this example:
You unintentionally exchanged your shopping basket with someone else's while in the supermarket.
My questions is, would it be correct to use "in the supermarket" after "while"?

It's correct. You could also say 'while shopping ...' or 'while I was in the .. ' if you wanted to follow the rules you were taught.

Number one is correct.
Number 2 is correct as well. If I insert a gerund, it would say: "You unintentionally exchanged your shopping basket with someone else's while (shopping) in the supermarket." Either with or without the gerund sounds correct.
