My name is Tomás. I'm from Cancún, México. I have a law degree and a passion for languages. I learned English when I was very young and it's always opened doors for more opportunities. Along with my university studies I took my own opportunity to use my abilities with languages to teach. I taught primarily English, teaching my colleagues and others. And here I am, persuing the dream of teaching language and learning some new ones.

As a teacher I usually focus on the practical. I do it this way based on my own experience learning language...it is the easiest method! If from the beginning you learn from your experiences, you learn much faster and it's a lot more enjoyable than traditional methods. My Lessons and Teaching Style
Depending on the personal characteristics of each student, we will customize material and themes to figure out what we'll use in future lessons.
-Analyze videos from movies to develop listening skills and pronunciation.
-Analyze writings according to your interests in order to learn the spelling and grammar used.
-Choose songs to work on pronunciation in a natural manner.

I count myself so lucky to have Tomas as my teacher. He always gives 100% effort, which is more than I can say for myself! However, he is patient when I forget things I should have already know, or when I have an off day. Most italki tutors just do conversation practice. Tomas comes prepared with grammar lessons and relevant homework. His English is near native level, so there’s never any difficulty explaining things in a way I can understand. He also remembers things about my life and asks me practice questions that are specific to my situation. It’s easy to forget he has a whole roster of other students he is also teaching! Thank you Tomás for all your assistance! I look forward to my lessons.

Tomás has been my teacher from the beginning of my Spanish journey. He has been able to adapt to my needs throughout the process. He's a great conversation partner, but also knows the Spanish language well and can answer any grammar question. He really takes the time to prepare for his lessons and always has fun activities planned. He's listed as a community tutor but he's the most "professional" quality teacher I've come across.

I have been seeing Tomás for Spanish lessons since almost the beginning of my journey of learning Spanish. I started scheduling 2 lessons a week with Tomás about 10 months ago and can proudly say that I can talk about many different topics and understand a lot of spoken Spanish. I will continue seeing Tomás twice a week for the foreseeable future and would highly recommend him!

I had another great Spanish lesson with Tomás today. I'm really starting to notice a shift in my spoken confidence—I'm able to participate more freely in conversations without feeling overly self-conscious about making mistakes. Speaking with a real Mexican tutor like Tomás is a tremendous boost; his natural rhythm and expressions help me tune into authentic usage, and it’s making a big difference in how I approach the language
