I adore the outdoor life through travelling, hiking and cycling and keep fit playing badminton and frisbeeing. I was lucky and travelled around the world for 2 wonderful years in 1992-93. My main interests are science and nature, history, reading, the arts and music. I recently returned to England after 12 wonderful years teaching English in China and Vietnam. Teaching became my passion because I have always loved interacting and conversing with people, and because ever learner is different, tutoring always remains fun and interesting.
When I took up teaching, I grew to love it and never looked back. With 20yrs experience teaching, tutoring and training in both the UK (8yrs) and Asia (12yrs), I have acquired and developed a wide range of teaching styles and techniques with material, dependent on students' levels and requirements. Knowing and understanding their needs, level and what motivates them has never been easier and more personal than with 1 to 1 online training. I am experienced in speech, reading, listening, comprehension, pronunciation, writing, grammar, exam prep, IELTS and conversation and Business English classes.
A relaxed teaching style, making learning a positive experience, set with a clear outcome in mind. While in Asia, I gathered a wide variety English learning material, for levels A2 to C1 lower Int' to Adv' in many topics and Business English. My preference is for pre-intermediate to advanced level students aged 11 and over. 1 to 1 teaching is my favour...我的教学资料

Ian is a really structured and thoughtful tutor. He starts by breaking down how native speakers actually sound — things like rhythm, tone, and natural flow — which makes a big difference. Then he builds on that through dialogue practice, so you’re not just learning, you’re actually using the language.
He also exposes you to British culture in a really natural way, which I found really helpful. Everything feels very tailored — he designs each session based on your interests and what you want to focus on, and he always comes prepared with a few different options to choose from.
After each session, he gives clear and useful feedback, which helps you see your progress and know what to work on next. Overall, he’s very organised, engaging, and I’ve been really happy with my lessons.
