ITALKI CLASSROOM DOESN'T WORK ON MY IPAD. ******************************* Hi, my name's Al, and I've loved words and language since I was a child. I'm 67, an American native English speaker, and I have a C2 level certification in German, which I acquired primarily through self-study. I was born in New York, but grew up in California, Virginia, the Philippines and Kansas, so I speak a neutral American English with little to no regional accent. I studied journalism, creative writing and German at the University of Kansas, and I now live in Tennessee. I like history, films and music.

教学经验

Although I’m not a professional teacher, I’m a native English speaker, and I can offer you a relaxed setting in which to practice your conversational English. The main thing is that you speak, and I’ll encourage you to not be afraid of making mistakes. I’ll try to make corrections in a way that least interferes with the conversation. If you’re an intermediate self-learner of German, my experience could be uniquely useful to you. I essentially taught myself the language to a high level, so I’m well acquainted with the difficulties self-learners face.

My English classes are conversational. I’ll want you to relax and speak without fear of making mistakes. We learn from our mistakes, after all, and I’ll try to make corrections in a way that least disturbs the flow of the conversation. I‘ll let you do most of the talking, and we can talk about any subject that interests you. If you're learning German, I'm ready to help with any aspect of the language that’s causing you problems. Or, if you’d rather, we can just talk. I don’t teach beginners or children, and I don‘t offer a structured course in English or German. All lessons are via Skype. Please remember that it‘s not possible to cancel a lesson within 24 hours of the lesson time.

The trial lesson was great, and the teacher provided helpful feedback as well. I was hoping for a bit more focus on grammar, but overall, I got a good sense of the teaching style and what to expect moving forward.

Al is a nice guy! I had a pleasant session of German and American English with him. We've talked a lot about the grammar of different languages, discussed different approaches to learning languages, and generally various random topics. He's a competent German speaker and a very interesting person to talk to. If you need real practice in either of these languages, just book a session with him. Highly recommended!

Allen is a wonderful conversational partner - sharp, thoughtful, and always fully engaged. He catches my mistakes and awkward expressions with great precision, often explaining not just what to say, but why.
