Hi, I am Diyan. If you are looking for a Bahasa Indonesia tutor to help you learn Bahasa Indonesia for living in Indonesia, professional business, or even if you just want to know the language and cultures, then I am the one you are looking for! I am a native speaker of Bahasa Indonesia, born and raised in Indonesia. I currently live in Surabaya. Before living in Surabaya, I used to live in Jakarta for 11 years. I am a 5-year experienced tutor and certified for BIPA (Bahasa Indonesia bagi Penutur Asing/Bahasa Indonesia as a second language). I love teaching, learning foreign languages, and anything about culture. Now, I am studying Thai and Chinese Mandarin. As a learner myself, I believe that learning a language is like a marathon. It is a long journey. It needs patience and consistency. Sometimes, it feels lonely and frustrating. That is why, I understand the difficulties of my student when learning a new language. So when I teach my students, I try to be not only a teacher but also a study partner for my students. My teaching style is focused on creating an interactive class with a lot of discussion and practice. In the discussion with my students, I try to explain the language as clearly as possible such as: how the word is usually used (formal or informal setting), how to understand the grammar rules, and how Indonesia's culture influences the language. Diyan is a fantastic teacher! She’s so easy to talk to so I always feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes as we work through new vocab. The lessons are really fun and she is always prepared. She’s also really flexible which I love, she’s able to tailor the lessons and vocab as we talk so it feels very natural to learn and builds on previous lessons and concepts in an interconnected way.

My lessons with Diyan have been enjoyable, informative and useful to my progress in Bahasa Indonesia. She prepares useful materials and answers any questions I have about the language or the culture of Indonesia.
