Certified teacher of Russian with background in philology and journalism Hello! My name is Darina. I'm a native speaker of Russian and a certified teacher of Russian as foreign language. I was born in Moscow and graduated from Moscow State University. Now I live in Toronto, Canada. In addition to working as a Russian teacher, I also have professional experience as a journalist, and an editor. I have masters in Journalism from Moscow State University and a professional development certificate in Teaching Russian as a Foreign Language from Ural Institute for Advanced Studies. I work with students of any level of knowledge of Russian. At every lesson, I take into account interests and goals of the student. Also, I always take into consideration at what pace the student feels comfortable to study. I believe the key to success in learning a new language is to focus on content and topics that are practical, useful in everyday life and really interesting to the student. I use a communicative approach in teaching a foreign language. During our lessons you will speak Russian as much as possible. Each grammar or vocabulary topic is followed by speaking practice. General lessons are based on modern textbooks of Russian as foreign language. I also use additional material to develop listening comprehension and speaking skills. I offer materials that are interesting and relevant for the student in a format that is convenient for studying.

Darina is an amazing teacher! I've been studying with her for almost a year and have made great progress thanks to her clear explanations of the Russian grammar and the many exercises that she came up with over the past year.
