Hello everyone, my name is Brandon Brookes; I am a current doctoral student who is completing their coursework and practicum. I am an avid backpacker, hiker, runner, and general outdoor enthusiast. I enjoy reading and writing in my spare time. One of my passions is helping others become better at their English language skills (reading, writing, and speaking) as I enjoy spreading the love of literacy. I am a native English speaker from Del Mar, CA, and have been happy in my involvement with the community, both at home and abroad. I love to travel, both domestically and foreign. Currently, I am seeking students who would not mind also being a part of my research projects during my doctoral.
I have worked as a teacher for the past three years while developing my teaching skills through the completion of an MATESOL and enrolling in a doctoral degree in curriculum design and instruction. I have enjoyed working with a variety of ages, from children to adults. In addition to my master's degree, I also hold a teaching license from the state of Massachusetts (Grades 5-12) and have worked with the board of education in Japan for the past year. My top priority as an instructor is to see you grow, developing the skills you need to achieve your success.

That's been 50 lessons, a great milestone to summarize. The overall experience is beyond any reproach, as I learned to:
Speak confidently. I felt weird trying to speak English. Thanks to Brandon's strong sense of empathy and gentle style of communication, even the very first lesson was not that bad :) Brandon's ability to keep the conversations easy-going and take the pressure off is helpful in later stages as well, as you are not afraid of making mistakes.
Discuss complex topisc. Brandon manages to optimize topics, workload, feedback, and entertainment to ensure that at any particular moment, I take the most out of it and don't burn out. Brandon has the skills to intensely discuss any topic and make an ultrapractical lesson around it. Brandon is a highly well-educated person, whom you will find to be a pleasant and witty conversationalist.

It was almost a year since I started to learn English with Brandon and I couldn't ask for a better teacher! Despite the fact, that we had a grammar lesson, he made it in an interesting way. He always makes sure correct the pronunciation in order to make my speech more native. Also he gives listening tasks with different accents to give his students better understanding of how English may sound from non-native people all over the world.
