I have 37 years of experience as a Japanese language teacher. I can teach students from complete beginners to advanced levels, but since I use English as a medium, it's preferable if the student has some English proficiency. The lesson names and methods are as follows: Ⅰ. Integrated Japanese by using a text book you want(Genki, Minna no Nihongo, Japanese for Busy People 新标准日 本语etc.) 0. before lessons I send you some documents via Teams(←Skype). 1. at a few lessons in the beginning I teach you the basic Japanese accent and useful phrases and words used in a class by using documents I will send you via Teams or italki Classroom etc. 2. usual lessons [before class］ Basically you have to study(read) the textbook by yourself. You practice to pronounce sentences and words in the document I will send you via Teams etc. You have to be careful to say them with correct accent. You can use CD in the textbook or audio files on the WEB. ［on class］ (1) You read aloud sentences and words.→ I check your understanding and pronunciation and correct mistakes. → You read aloud correctly again (and again). → I say sentences in English. →You translate those to Japanese with correct pronunciation including accent. (2) You answer to the questions on the textbook.→ I check your answer(and pronunciation) and correct mistakes. ※If you have questions(about grammar, meaning, pronunciation etc.), you can ask me anytime. Japanese Specialist is the only teacher I know who teaches the rules of Japanese accent in systematic way. Other Japanese teachers will correct your pronunciation only if you get it so horribly wrong as to be incomprehensible. Japanese Specialist is different. He teaches you how to vary the pitch within Japanese words and phrases to achieve natural, native-like intonation. If you have a musical ear or have studied a tonal language like Mandarin Chinese as a second language, you will easily understand the principles of Japanese intonation once they are explained to you. Otherwise, you may find this method of study extremely challenging. I highly recommend this teacher for students with a good ear for language and a serious interest in achieving a good accent.
