Hey there, こんにちは, 你好, 안녕하세요, and selamat siang!
My name's Devon, nice to meet you. I'm originally from Vancouver, Canada, and currently live in Bali, Indonesia, where I spend my free time hiking in the jungles with my dog and freediving reefs and wrecks. I've been living and working throughout Eastern Asia for the past 19 years, both as a meditation, philosophy, and English teacher, and as a DJ. I also love studying life philosophies and, along with daily meditation, I've found them to be a great way to find peace and contentment in life. As my home has a bit of space for some gardening, I enjoy growing my own vegetables, cooking over an open fire, and taking care of my little parrot.教学经验
As a teacher, my goal is to bring the joy and fun of communicating confidently to each and every person I talk to. I've been living in Asia for 19+ years and during my adventures, I've worked as a professional DJ, an English teacher (in Canada, China, Japan, and online), built and ran a craft cocktail lounge, brewery, and distillery for 5 years (in Xiamen, China), and now, as an ordained lay Zen Buddhist and Daoist priest, I also work remotely as a meditation and philosophical guide. My passions include nature and the sea, philosophy, meditation, history, and traditional crafts. I have experience working with the full range of ESL speakers. I tutor conversation classes with a focus on casual and everyday speaking English (including slang), similar to how we talk with friends in a coffee shop or pub, and hope you leave every class smiling.
I believe that the most important part of language is communication, and the key to good communication is confidence. By using live corrective notes and positive support, I aim to build your fluency level and speaking confidence.
