Heileo! Is mise Caoimhín agus bím ag múineadh na Gaeilge anseo ar italki.
Hello! I'm Caoimhín and I teach Irish (Gaelic) here on italki.
I'm from Dublin, though I've been living in Finland now for 7 years.
I'm a scientist by training, but the Irish language is my real passion! Most schools in Ireland teach through English, but I was lucky enough to attend schools where everything was taught through Irish, so I've been hearing, speaking, reading, and writing the language my whole life.
I started teaching Irish about four or five years ago and I really enjoy it. Even as a teacher, there is always more to learn. I love discovering new words and phrases and sharing them with my students!教学经验
I'm a very patient, agreeable person and I also try to be flexible in adapting my methods to fit the student's aims and learning style.
I've learned Finnish and German to an upper intermediate level myself, so I'm very aware of how overwhelming it can be to learn a new language, especially at the very beginning. Reading, writing, listening, speaking, vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, dialects, slang, differences between written and spoken usage – there is so much to learn!
One of my main priorities is trying not to overwhelm the student by introducing too much new information all at once. Learning a language takes time. No need to rush. We'll get there! 我提供的课程和我的教学风格
I think the most important thing is that the learning process is at least somewhat enjoyable. If you enjoy spending time with the language you'll probably learn more than by trying to forcefully memorise vocabulary lists or grammar rules.
I can provide structured lessons with PowerPoint slides, notes, homework exercises etc., or we can just chat about something that interests you and learn some useful words and phrases related to that topic.
