I have taught Chinese and English to big and small groups for 2 years. I believe language is fundamentally a conversation mediator; therefore, my class is fundamentally focused on developing your confidence in speaking. I am a fun teacher, humour is a natural part of my personality, and I like to know my students’ interests and passions, and be friends with them.

For beginners, I will divide our class into three parts.
In the first part, we will practice basic conversations, learning the common daily expressions. In the second part, we will focus on Pinyin, which is the sound system of the Chinese language. It usually takes around 4–7 classes to complete all the Pinyin syllables, and after that, you will be able to “decode” the language much more easily.
For the last 5–10 minutes of each class, I will introduce something interesting about Chinese culture. This may include music, festivals, history, to keep your energy going.

My first lesson with Wilbur went well. I found him to be very friendly, approachable and interesting to talk to. We mixed in some speaking, listening and reading practice, and his patience and explanations were good. We're still finding our way, as I'm not sure of my Chinese level, but I feel like his ability to adapt is already commendable and we will have a lot of great future lessons. Looking forward to the next one
