My biggest struggles while learning Korean is my pronunciation and memorization. Genie has been amazing at noticing when I am having a hard time and slowing down so that I can fully remember and understand what I am saying. She doesn’t just speed through classes to get further, she will go over the same topics with me for as long as I need until I am completely comfortable. Only when I feel comfortable do we move on to the next topic. I take much longer to memorize words and phrases so this was something that is extremely important to me. Genie has also been great at working with me and making me feel completely comfortable to make mistakes, while also gently correcting me so that I can work towards sounding more natural.

Genie is a wonderful tutor! I have been learning Korean for about a year and this is the first time I have receive one-on-one feedback on how to improve my pronunciation. She goes beyond “good enough” and explains how to pronounce certain words to sound more like a native speaker. Not only that but this has widen my listening understanding skills as well. I wish I would have found her sooner!

These days, I feel like English is becoming a little easier for me. I wish I had learned this way earlier. Maybe the reason I struggled before was that I never had a really good teacher. I was always just learning grammar, but even after all that, I'm still not very good at grammar. But now, it feels different.

I’ve been studying with Genie for the past 6 months now. I’m learning so much and already feel so much more confident in Korean than I did prior. I’ve been getting comments from friends and family on how much I’ve been improving as well! Genie plans out each lessons for me to cover grammar, vocabulary, and also just day to day speaking / writing practice. I’ve really appreciated how she tailors each lesson to me based on my interests and areas that I struggle in. Genie comes into each lesson with energy, patience, and empathy. She has been such a great tutor for me. I’ve loved learning with her so far and am so excited to continue lessons with her.

I never really knew how to start a conversation in English, but now I feel like I'm starting to get the hang of it. It made me realize once again how important having a good teacher is.
