Hi! My name is Nono, I’m from Japan and I studied abroad in the US for a year.
I’m a cheerful and curious person who loves talking with people, traveling, makeup, trying food from different countries, and spending time with dogs. I also enjoy discovering new trends and sharing Japanese culture with others.
I love playing with children, so I enjoy creating fun lessons for kids.
As an international student, I truly understand how it feels to learn a language in a new environment, so I can support you with empathy and encouragement.
教学经验
I value creating lessons tailored to each student.
Everyone has different goals and learning speeds, so I carefully listen to your needs and provide a plan that suits you best.
I don’t hold special teaching certificates, but I have many years of tutoring experience in Japan, where I was a popular teacher among students.
My lessons are mainly conversation-based! I make sure you have plenty of time to think and speak for yourself, so your conversation skills will grow naturally.
I also focus on building a bright and relaxed atmosphere, where you feel safe to make mistakes and keep trying.
My goal is to learn with you, not just teach you.
我提供的课程和我的教学风格
・Beginners: Everyday Japanese with English support (greetings, travel, shopping, daily life).
・Intermediate learners: Role-plays, free talk, and cultural discussions to expand your expression.
・Kids: Fun learning with games, anime, and songs to make Japanese exciting!
In every class, I introduce aspects of Japanese culture—seasonal events, customs, and lifestyle—so you can learn not only the language but also the heart of Japan.

The last few months working with Nono sensei have been the most impactful moments in my Japanese language journey. The conversations were always highly relevant to my study needs (academic field, work, etc), and she was always great at altering the difficulty to accommodate my level, both in terms of talking speed and substance. I've gained a better understanding of the ebb and flow of Japanese communication, especially transition phrases, aizuchi, and rhythm. She has also been a huge help in coming up with specific conversation scenarios I am likely to find myself in during my travels. Most of all, she is by far the most patient and supportive tutor I have ever worked with, showing a genuine interest in my motivations for learning Japanese. I highly recommend booking a lesson with Nono sensei for those who wish to develop conversational skills but are worried about making mistakes, or for those who desire a more free flowing environment.

Nono sensei is incredibly patient and understanding. She eased my nerves during our first iTalki lesson, and was able to find a good range of talking points for a beginner like me.
For context, I can barely hold a conversation in Japanese and was terrified to schedule a tutoring session. Nono sensei was able to ask interesting questions and guide the lesson to help me speak as much Japanese as possible. She also helped steer the conversation towards words and phrases relevant to my learning goals. The overall atmosphere was fun, flexible, and respectful, perfect for those looking to practice speaking and listening early in their learning journey!
