Bonjour. I am Matthias, a Sorbonne University-certified French instructor specializing in exam preparation (DELF/DALF/TCF/TEF) & fluency development. With over 15 years of experience at prestigious institutions including Alliance Française & international universities—and 10 years teaching online—I have successfully trained 750+ students across 40+ nationalities (ages 8-80). My methodology combines CEFR-aligned instruction with personalized coaching techniques, adapted for learners at all levels—from complete beginners to advanced speakers. I customize the classes for every student depending on their levels, their needs, their interests and their objectives. I meticulously prepare each class using adapted and certified educational materials that I select for each student according to the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) standards accredited by the French government. Also, I constantly offer extra exercices and activities as homework in between classes upon request from my students. I offer not only general French classes, but also conversational classes for intermediate and advanced levels. Matthias is a superb teacher! My 8 year old daughter and I have been taking classes for several weeks now and have learned so much. Matthias is patient and kind while providing a structured learning environment. He provides feedback, homework, answers all questions, and most importantly makes learning French fun! We are planning on traveling to France later this year and I have no doubt we will be able to speak some French with proper pronunciation. I would highly recommend Matthias as a teacher and will be continuing lessons with him. So glad to have found him on iTalki. His references alone speak for themself, but his caring attitude in helping us learn has truly made classes worthwhile.

Matthias is the most encouraging teacher I have had on italki! He is really good at pushing you out of your comfort zone without making you feel scared or uncomfortable. I was able to speak French from the first couple of classes because I felt safe and supported. My test preparation classes are thought-through and the feedback on my mistakes is very useful because it helps me learn the logic behind the task (not just what's correct)!

Matthias is the French teacher of my dreams! I have been taking lessons with him consistently for the last 8 months, and during this time he has helped me immeasurably. My comprehension of both spoken and written French have improved enormously, and what I am most pleased about is that my ability to speak French with greater fluency is so much better.
It is very clear that Matthias takes great pleasure in teaching French, and that he loves sharing his French culture and his life experiences. He customises each of my classes for my level and carefully prepares the materials he will use, for example spoken and written exercises, presentation slides, photos, videos, and all homework assignments. He is exceedingly patient, always enthusiastic and positive, and extremely kind. He is consistently well organised, and he is unfailingly passionate about teaching. Honestly, I cannot recommend him highly enough, he is an amazing French teacher!

I had my trial lesson yesterday and it was excellent. We got to know each other, discussed my goals, and made a plan. Matthias is extremely organised and knows how to motivate during conversation, which makes the learning process engaging and inspiring. I'm really excited to continue with the next classes.

Wonderful class! We worked on conjugation of regular verbs ending in "er". Reviewed previous lesson with greetings and how to ask questions regarding pronunciation and spelling. Looking forward to learning more!
