Hello from Singapore! I am Cheryl. My dad is from China and my mum is from Singapore so I grew up speaking both English and Chinese. I studied Chinese as a second language for ten years and was part of my country’s prestigious Bicultural Studies Programme (BSP). I am also trained in English debate and public speaking. I love tailoring lessons to each student’s needs and helping them gain confidence in using English or Chinese. 大家好！我是 Cheryl。我来自新加坡。我的爸爸是中国人，而我妈妈是新加坡人。因此，我从小就会说英语和中文。我在学校学习了十年的中文，在中小学时也是学校英语辩论会队的成员。我高中时开始教居住在新加坡的外国人雅思，并帮助他们为考试做好准备。我热爱教学，希望帮助每位学生更有信心地使用语言！

教学经验

I have been teaching English and Chinese to foreigners since high school. Throughout the years, I have helped about a dozen students prepare for the IELTS exam. I taught Chinese in IPYP’s (International Polyglot Youth Program) last cycle, where I guided beginners from scratch. That experience taught me a lot about Chinese instruction and I truly enjoy interacting with my students. 我从高中时就开始教外国学生英语和中文。我帮助过多位学生准备雅思考试，也辅助中学生准备新加坡的 A-Level General Paper 和 O-Level 英语考试。我曾在 International Polyglot Youth Program（IPYP）中教中文，从零基础开始带领学生学习。这段经历让我学到了许多教学技巧，也让我更加热爱教学与和我的学生们交流。

I usually prepare PPT slides for my students so they can review the lesson's content after class. My lessons include Kahoot quizzes (for group classes), dictation, reading exercises, and word lists. I keep classes interactive and provide audio recordings for all reading practices. For students preparing for exams, I assign weekly homework by default. For students who simply wish to converse with me, I try my best to encourage them while pointing out areas they could improve on. 我通常会为学生制作PPT，方便他们课后复习。课堂内容通常包括听写、阅读练习和词汇表。我会为所有的阅读练习提供录音。对于正准备考试的学生，我会每周布置作业。对于只想和我练习口语的学生，我会尽力鼓励他们，并在同时指出他们能进步的地方。
