Shalom! I'm Itay Dafan, a 29-year-old Hebrew tutor from the Tel Aviv area, now living in Houston, Texas. I hold a Bachelor's in Political Science and International Relations and am currently studying Computer Science.
I speak English fluently, having lived in the USA for four years, and I also speak Italian and basic Spanish.
When I'm not teaching, I enjoy sports like skiing, bouldering, weightlifting, and jetskiing. Fun fact: I published a book on military service in Israel!

I’m passionate about teaching Hebrew and making the learning process both fun and practical. Whether you're a beginner or looking to improve your skills, I’m here to guide you every step of the way.
I take an informal, relaxed approach to teaching. My journey as a Hebrew tutor started when I began helping friends from around the world as a hobby. What started as a fun way to share my language and culture eventually grew into a part-time job, and I’ve loved every minute of it.

I tailor my lessons to each student’s needs and learning style. Whether you're a beginner or looking to improve, I make learning Hebrew practical and enjoyable. I use a variety of materials, including audio clips, videos, real-life situations, and phone calls with native speakers to help you build confidence and fluency. We’ll also discuss current events, cultural topics, and practice everyday conversations. I create a calm, supportive environment where you can comfortably make mistakes and ask questions. Itay is very good at anticipating my questions, and in explaining minor grammatical or vocab points. I also like how he can speed up and slow down his speech in Hebrew to help my aural comprehension.

I really had a nice first lesson with Itay. He is very sincere, helpful and tenderhearted. He listened to what I wanted and used it as a starting point, and then he was prepared with resources to take me from that starting point onward. Even though I was struggling quite a bit, he constantly affirmed me for what I did right. I liked Itay's teaching style and will want to sign up for more classes.

I really enjoyed my first lesson. I learned a lot in a short time and had a lot of fun in the process. I learned a lot of new vocabulary.
I enjoyed going through the lyrics of a popular Israeli song. It’s a fun method.
The lesson started on time. Itay also gave me recommendations and resources so I can learn more on my own.
I look forward to more lessons with Itay in the future.
