What can I tell you about me in 700 characters or less? Well, if I had a day to myself, I'd probably lift some weights, maybe journal, or go out on an adventure with some buddies. That, or procrastinate on some important project I've got going on, or take a nap. It could go either way. Lifting weights and adventuring may sound cool and intimidating, but I'm not like that at all. In between sets, I blare music in my room and dance like a weirdo. (Napoleon Dynamite fans unite). I have a strange, secret desire to be in a dance-off some day. Adventures would be a day out in the stunning Scottish mountains, talking about life or how much we feel like we're in a Lord of the Rings movie.

I became interested in helping others learn languages after my own experience learning Spanish. At school, I struggled through languages, and thought "I'm just not a language person." I really believed I'd grow up only ever speaking my own language. But 3 years later, I moved to Madrid for 4 months. There, I achieved what I never thought was possible: I was speaking Spanish! And that, for me, is what learning a language is all about - personal transformation and becoming the strongest version of yourself - and that's what I want to help others achieve.

For me, communication is the ultimate goal of leaning a language. It doesn't matter how many books you read or grammar exercises you do; if you can't have a conversation, you can't speak the language. That's why our lessons will be based around conversation. We'll use conversation to identify areas that we need to work on and strengthen through grammar exercises, listening exercises etc. We'll then return to conversation to cement what we strengthened through targeted practice. By having lessons based on conversation, you'll develop the real confidence that comes from knowing you can use English as it's supposed to be used - to speak to people!

You are a great teacher with a great concept of teaching. I felt very motivated and comfortable speaking in English throughout our lesson, a situation that usually makes me freak out in other circumstances. I always enjoy my classes with Iain very much. He is so intelligent and interesting to talk to, and I never know how our conversation unravels when I step into our lesson. He reads a lot, knows a lot and seems to always be curious to learn and discover even more. I feel like finding a truly interesting person to talk to is actually not such an easy task, but Iain definitely falls into this category :) Always the greatest pleasure talking to you Iain, thank you!

You are probably the best teacher have I ever had. I felt very confident and secure when trying to use my rusty English. But with your super patience and kindness you helped me a lot.
