I have a broad range of interests that includes but is not restricted to sport, literature, drama, musical theater, learning languages and learning about other countries and other cultures. I enjoy watching Premier League football and I am a keen Southampton fan. I enjoy playing tennis, table tennis, badminton and squash. I like to read novels when I have the time and I have performed in many dramas and musical theatre productions in the UK. I am a B1 level French speaker and am able to converse in Spanish and Turkish. I am learning Chinese which I find really difficult as I don't easily take to tonal languages but I am not giving up! I have travelled all over the world.

I am TEFL certified and have many years experience of teaching children and adults both online and face-to-face. I have worked in schools in China, Cambodia and Vietnam. I used to be an Occupational Therapist. Therapy and teaching have a great deal in common and all my experience in therapy has come in really handy. I loved helping the Chinese children (aged 5-16 years old) to develop their confidence and speaking and listening skills in the classroom. From April 2018 I taught children (aged 5-16) and adults online. From January 2020 until March 2022 I was in Vietnam, teaching children and adults online and in the classroom. I am currently in the UK.

I believe it is best when teaching online to work on speaking and listening. I think that very young children learn best through play and that is very difficult to achieve online. I now work with students (B1 intermediate level and above) and the content is very much focused on the interests of the student. I ensure that my lessons are fun and dynamic and interactive and that the speaking and listening is 50/50. I make a few notes as we go along so that towards the end of the session the student and I can set very specific goals for the student to work on between lessons and I follow that up with some written communication to the student so that the goals are clear and achievable.
