Thanks to lessons with Jamie over the past 6 months, I landed in Seoul able to hold basic conversations. She has thoughtfully designed a curriculum that can teach anyone starting from absolutely no knowledge of Korean. On top of that, she is really adept at adapting to your level. I had learned some basics prior to my lessons with her, and she quickly identified what I already knew and moved past it, focusing our limited time on what I needed most. She does a great job of balancing teaching you new material and having you practice in fun and engaging ways. We would play a version of a Korean drinking game to practice counting, or look up grocery prices to practice with larger numbers. My sessions were consistently challenging, but in a very satisfying way, where I was consistently stretching and improving my abilities. My trip to South Korea was a great experience, and her lessons were a big part of that. I look forward to continuing to learn Korean with Jamie!

There are many different types of language teachers online these days, but from my experience, if you were to roughly categorize them into two main groups, there is one that's good for simply enjoying and practicing casual conversations and, the other that really influences your learning experience. Jamie is the latter. While she is also a great conversationalist, her dedication to help you speak more naturally and correctly in Korean is second to none. She also employs various approaches to her lessons, so you get to work on your Korean from different angles over time. If you are serious about improving your Korean and want to spend your time and money productively to that end, I'm certain that she is one of the best choices you can make. I'm always grateful that I've found her in my Korean learning journey.

Teacher Jamie was incredibly thorough in checking my understanding and asking thoughtful questions to ensure I fully grasped the concepts before moving on. I’ve gained a clearer understanding of the materials studied and left feeling much more confident in applying what I’ve learned in class. Jamie encourages rather than suggests. Even if you have doubts about your progress she reassures and gives you confidence in your learning. Shes amazing with examples and explinations as to why things are said how they are.

Jamie is absolutely amazing. I wish i found out about her sooner. Ive had a few 30 mintue classes with her and i can already start putting together consonants and vowels to make syllables and even small words. Shes patient, and instead of moving onto the next thing when she notices your struggling with something she continues to help you until you get it which ive noticed alot of teacher do not have the patience for. She also explains the difference between textbook/ computer hangul and korean versus the spoken and written Hangul and korean! I highly recommend jamie to learners who are starting korean from the very beginning.
