Hi, ともこです。I'm an experienced Japanese teacher and also a Japanese calligraphy artist. I was born and grew up in Japan, and I have been living in Australia for about 6 years. I love the beaches and natural landscapes here!
I used to work at schools teaching English in Japan, and teaching Japanese in Australia. I run Japanese calligraphy workshops in Australia, too. I'm fluent in English, and can help explain Japanese grammar and vocabulary - great for beginners and for tricky advanced topics!教学经验
I have been teaching Japanese for the past 4 years, and have helped my students at all levels - basic to advanced. My classes are usually conversation-based and customised to my students' language needs, whether it be grammar, idioms, vocabulary, or pronunciation.
If you have something specific you need to prepare for, such as an upcoming interview, presentation or JLPT exams, I can definitely help you with that! I am also happy to answer any questions you have about material you are learning in other Japanese classes or by yourself, and help with document editing/proofreading.
I want my classes to be relaxed, casual and hopefully have a bit of fun conversation!

I absolutely loved talking with Tomoko! I usually feel a bit nervous speaking in Japanese but she made me feel relaxed and I really appreciate that. I felt like I could express myself more in Japanese. Great lesson, will definitely book again :)

I really appreciate the practice conversations. Although I live in Japan and I get to use my Japanese, the corrections and practice is necessary. Tomoaki-sensei helps my Japanese sound more natural. I’m learning Japanese I will use. Sensei is also fluent in English which is so helpful because she can teach me words that don’t have exact translations that I can look up in the dictionary. Look forward to my next lesson. I highly recommend. :)

I love that Tomoko sensei makes the lessons relevant to my day to day life. We follow the structure of the grammar lessons from Genki but then she encourages me to use it practically and I can really remember things, and even put it to use when I was recently traveling in Japan.
