My name is Xavery Mpombo. I was born and raised in Tanzania. I recently graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Sokoine University of Agriculture. I speak Swahili, English, and Ngoni (my ethnic language), and I’m also a student of the Spanish language. I love learning foreign languages and helping people with Swahili and English. I have been teaching Swahili and English to non-natives since 2018, and have learned so much about language learning and teaching, and how languages work. I happen to think that I’m open-minded, enthusiastic, and kind.教学经验
I can help you learn conversational Swahili and English as well as improve your conversational listening skills. I also have experience with structured classes and will create lessons specifically for you. I like making my classes friendlier for my students to feel like they’re talking to a friend while learning. More importantly, I respect everyone’s beliefs, religion, and opinions. I’m open to working with students of all levels and age groups and will try to be as flexible as I can to reflect our regional time differences and help those with a busy lifestyle.我提供的课程和我的教学风格
As an experienced language tutor and learner, I personally believe that there are several steps to becoming fluent in a language. It involves some hard work, but if you put the effort in, you will begin to see your growth. I can adjust my teaching technique to fit your unique learning style. I'll keep a log of your progress as we go to help remind you of how far you've come. I will also use this as a base for my teaching so that we can continue to learn new things as well as review all of our past materials to keep them fresh in our minds. English speakers who want to learn Swahili - Xavery is 100% your best option!! I went from not speaking a single word of Swahili besides “hakuna matata” to being able to make small talk and have surface level conversation in only a few short months to prepare for a trip to Tanzania.
He has a VERY excellent grasp on how to teach a language effectively, and a very good instinct for understanding common mistakes from English speakers because he is also a great English speaker himself who has learned from the other direction.
I have had many language teachers over the years and I can tell you Xavery is one of the best I’ve had. Truly a great teacher who communicates concepts effectively, and on top of that, is an incredibly kind and patient person!

I'm so thankful and grateful to be formally learning noun classes with a native certified Swahili teacher! For me, this is the trickiest part of learning Swahili and Xavery is the best teacher to help guide you through this. This is my son's 15th lesson - starting weekly lessons with Xavery some months ago to learn Swahili. Not only is my son extremely motivated (we are going back to volunteer again in Tanzania this July) - but Xavery has been fabulous in getting my son to the stage where he can have simple conversations across a range of subjects. More progress to come but this is one of my son's favorite things to do! Thanks so much Xavery.
