Classes with João are an excellent investment in my Portuguese learning. It's important to me that lessons have a relaxed atmosphere, that the teacher is interesting to talk to, and, as a bonus, has a great sense of humor. I find all of that in João's lessons. I appreciate that in each lesson, I learn something that cannot be learned from books and feel more and more confident speaking in Portuguese. Thank you, João!

João is an excellent teacher. I always look forward to my lessons with him. He is very calm and patient and leads the conversation easily, asking questions to help me continue to speak. When I make mistakes (frequently!). He is kind and corrects me gently. It is an easygoing-low pressure lesson but I come away learning a lot and the time flies by. I highly recommend João.

Learning Portuguese with Joao is fun! You'll have the chance to speak from the very first lesson since he will engage you in entertaining conversations about all kinds of topics. If you don't like grammar-based lessons nor being spoon-fed, he's the perfect tutor for you. He's kind, patient and makes you laugh... Absolutely recommended!

Today João explained the word for “whale” by reminding me of a scene from Finding Nemo where Dory talks to the whales. Will I remember that word now? I think forever. Would I have remembered it if I had just used Google like I wanted to? No. And it’s like that with all the words at the lessons. João is a cool teacher :)

I do like our Sunday morning conversations! It is easy, no stress. João is quite patient, never switches to English, and always finds new ways to explain things in Portuguese until they click. Can't prove it, but I know I've started speaking much better after just a month of classes
