Lolo’s classes are never the same — each one is unique, and that’s what makes him such a special teacher. The best way to describe what he does is “haitian creole and haitian culture classes,” because he knows that you can’t learn a language without learning about the culture behind it. I interact with Haitian people every week, so speaking kreyòl is a important for me. Lolo has been a huge help since he teaches the real kreyòl people actually use. I can say he’s improved both my kreyòl and my quality of life by helping me connect better with the haitian community in my country. Another great lesson. Lolo is very organized in how he plans lessons and emphasizes a few themes/topics at a time. This allows me to build confidence in certain areas and I am able to retain the vocabulary and grammar points better. It really helps that I am able to go back and review what I learned during the session, to reinforce my learning. As I learn, Lolo also talks about cultural aspects of the languauge, which is crucial to understanding how to interact with native speakers and be polite. If you want to learn Creole, Lolo is the perfect tutor. After three sessions, I am able to understand about 75 to 80% of what I am reading. I cannot wait to see what my progress will be in the next six months. Start learning this beautiful language and don't forget to practice using it when you grab some Haitian cuisine. Best food on the planet!
