I absolutely love working with 성훈 선생님 ^^ I can’t believe we’ve already had 40 lessons! We usually spend the first half of class chatting. He helps me express my thoughts more naturally, and his kind, charismatic personality makes it easy to relax, even when I make mistakes haha. I really appreciate that he compliments sentences I phrase well and gives me multiple natural alternatives. In the second half, we go over homework related to our previous class or something I’ve prepared; often an excerpt from a short story I’m writing in Korean. Thanks to his feedback, I can really feel my writing improving. Sometimes I bring screenshots from video games, social media posts, or YouTube captions, and he explains the slang and expressions I don’t understand. He keeps everything organized in a google doc. We always end up laughing, and thanks to him, I leave every lesson feeling happy and excited to keep learning. He’s truly an amazing teacher with more strengths than I can possibly list! :)

Sunghoon is a very good teacher. He adjusts his lessons to my level of knowledge which makes the lesson very enjoyable, because I can celebrate little successes in my language learning. His grammar explanations are very clear and helpful. He creates ample opportunities for me to speak Korean during the lesson and is very patient when I take time to think. I can highly recommend him as a teacher!

I love classes with Sunghoon. He’s kind, friendly, patient, and has a great sense of humor. For the first half of class, we usually focus on conversation. He teaches me more natural ways to express myself and makes the effort to get to know me by bringing up relevant topics. He constantly gives his own opinions and thoughtfully answers questions, which helps me learn how to truly listen and exchange thoughts in Korean. During the second half, we check out some of my writing: a short story I’m working on, and some sentences about what we did during the prior class. He not only corrects, but gives multiple natural expressions for what I wish to convey. I feel very happy in class and safe to speak without fear of making mistakes. Thanks to Sunghoon, I feel more confidence when speaking with Koreans in my area ^^

I was truly unsure about online private lessons as I feel uneasy with oral expression in a foreign language. But with Sunghoon, since the first lesson i felt encouraged without any judgement and always end up the lesson with the feeling of having progressed each time. At the first lesson, we discussed my goals, he quickly understood my needs and accepted to continue with the teaching book I'm used to. During the lessons, between conversations and exercises, Sunghoon takes notes, making it a lot easier for staying focused and review it afterwards ( and of course for doing homework too ;) ) Thank you Sunghoon for your teaching, kindness and professionalism. I will continue to improve with your guidance.

I really enjoy classes with Sunghoon and very much appreciate his teaching style. He is warm, kind, an excellent listener and explains grammar clearly. He also provides a comfortable, safe space to speak so I can build and strengthen my confidence in Korean naturally. I like how we practice sentences together so I can feel more comfortable using the grammar right away. It's also awesome that he encourages speaking in Korean as much as possible, yet his great instinct to mix Korean and English when needed is very effective and much appreciated. I hope one day we won’t need English in class anymore :) and I believe he is a wonderful teacher who can help get me there.

My trial lesson with Sunghoon was a great experience! He’s kind, friendly, and helped ease my trial-lesson nerves right away. The conversation flowed naturally. He encouraged me to speak, gave thoughtful answers, and corrected me in a way that felt supportive, not discouraging. He had clearly read my intro message beforehand, which made me feel seen and supported in my Korean journey. He made multiple references to it in class. I asked questions about him as well. His responses were in depth and personable, making the class feel like a chat with a friend, rather than a first-time meeting. In the second half, we looked at a short story I’d been working on. I had sent it to him beforehand and was surprised (and impressed!) that he had revised it before class. We reviewed his edits together, and thanks to Sunghoon, I came away with a better idea of how to make my Korean writing more natural. I’m excited for our next class. Definitely book a lesson with him. You won’t regret it ~ 😊
