I am a seasoned professional with 30 years as senior manager, business owner, commercial pilot and educator. I have a Masters in Engineering and Business (German top uni). My experience is international - I have worked in Germany (banking and aviation) and Canada, where we live now. I have coached and taught adult students from 12 countries for 16 years. I have worked with Yukon College as a curriculum writer and instructor. My German language expertise reaches across industries and cultures. I know the German business culture as well as German social norms. I'm passionate about helping others to succeed, by sharing my knowledge and experience, encouraging and listening. I speak clearly (Hochdeutsch) and check if I've been understood. I understand cultural differences. I want my students to learn in a practical way so they can apply instantly what they've learned: Improved fluency; adequate choice of words; communicating effectively at the professional level. I’ve helped many young professionals to succeed in German-speaking environments, including successful job applications. Interaction is key to learning success. I ask good questions that enhance thinking and learning. I use humour as an important ingredient to remember things better. I want my students to have an interesting and fun experience. Understanding my students' context enables me to tailor lessons to their needs. I prepare lessons well and encourage my students to do the same. I correct my students right away - grammar, pronunciation and choice of words. They will become less nervous, improve their fluency and choose the right words. I give them assignments to apply what they've learned in daily life. I follow up and give constructive feedback. I also share the screen to jointly edit written text.5.0
