Do you want to take your learning to a whole new level? Moi! Nice to meet you. My name is Pekka, and I've taught Finnish for four years here on Italki. As a native Finn from Helsinki, I'm an expert in how Finnish is used in everyday life. Moreover I study sociology in university, and I have a good grasp on Finnish culture, history and contemporary topics we can discuss. Additionally, I like to spend my free time reading books, playing the piano, and learning languages (currently Estonian, German and Spanish). What about you? Do you enjoy learning languages, music, books, movies, or TV shows? If you answered yes to any of these, I believe we have much to discuss.教学经验
As a community teacher on Italki, I specialize in teaching Finnish. It is important for me to make the lessons suitable for each student, so I usually discuss students' preferences first and then provide my thoughts on how we should approach learning this language. One word: Flexible. I customize my lessons to meet the unique needs of each student. While conversations are a common approach to learning the spoken language on Italki, I am also open to exploring intricate details of grammar if that is your preference. Talking with Pekka is always fun and diversified. We start with pretty casual stuff and after the lesson I realise that I've spoken Finnish about so many different topics, without hesitation or being exhausted afterwards, because Pekka makes chatting so easy.

I‘m taking lessons with Pekka for two years now and I‘m so grateful for this versatile and good-humoured teacher! My Finnish has noticeable improved and I feel like becoming more and more fluent. It never gets boring, no awkward silences, but free flowing conversation and laughter. Nothing is more motivating to improve than to really want to talk with somebody. Kiitos paljon!

Chatting with Pekka is always a joy and he is always ready to dive into grammar or translations of special expressions. Today he explained the difference between paljon, monta and monet, something I have stumbled across so many times. A real light bulb moment! Thank you, Pekka!
