Shani

Shani is the best language teacher one could imagine and wish for. I knew some little Sinhalese before, but I improved so much in only a month, it is amazing. Shani provides a lot of materials and techniques to boost your language skills. The lectures are well structured, offer different kinds of exercises and have enough space for questions and personal requirements. Shani is a very professional teacher (always focused, on time etc.) but is also on eye-level and close. Studying a language like that is really fun and I enjoy every single lesson with her. Shani quickly gets a feeling of what you know already, what you need, what is easy or hard for you. So even with her structured course I am currently following, it feels like very tailor-made for me. If you are looking for a Sinhalese teacher, definitely book a lesson with Shani and you will be most satisfied. 100% recommendations!

Shani is amazing, I can not recommend her enough! I’ve only done a few (9) Sinhala classes with her so far, but I am very impressed and will continue the lessons. The lessons (PowerPoint) are perfectly structured and well thought out! Because of this, you’re really expanding your knowledge every class and can see your Sinhala improving. Before classes with Shani I didn’t think I would ever be able to make a sentence ON MY OWN (so not repeating a weirdly phrased sentence from the Lonely Planet 😂) or to make myself understood in Sinhala before, but now I am starting to believe maybe I can! ♥️ I also love how pragmatic Shani is. She will explain the difference between an official word and the way it is used/pronounced in every day life, so you will sound much more natural when you speak AND be able to understand the local community a lot better. Shani has been helping me consolidate my transition to intermediate Sinhala, and I couldn’t recommend her more highly. Her passion for teaching is truly inspiring, and what you get goes far beyond just lessons - you also gain access to additional learning resources, a supportive community of learners, and very well-organized materials that make progress much easier. I could not say enough great things about Shani. I have just finished the first five basic Sinhala lessons with her. She has youtube videos, flashcards, quizzes, slides, resource sheets and more with her lessons. Her classes are more comprehensive and better structured than university classes that I took for language learning. She is a brilliant teacher who can always find a way to explain grammar and vocabulary in a way that is easy to understand. She makes sure you understand concepts by giving you an opportunity to come up with your own examples of sentences relating the grammar points. I am so happy with the amount of Sinhala I have been able to learn in a short time. Every week I look forward to my Sinhala classes. Shani is also very patient and kind, making class a joy to attend. :)

I really enjoyed the trial session. Shina was organized and elaborated well how lessons are going to be provided.

I want to read the reading materials made by Shani thoroughly.They are not so difficult to read,but not simple to master and use as my own. I believe it will help me build a good foundation of Sinhala knowledge,since they are full of basic words,grammers, sentence structions and culture notes that we need in our daily communication.
