Hello! My name is Casiana Oancea, I live in Bucharest, Romania and I am really passionate about teaching and learning foreign languages. My native language is Romanian, I speak English and Italian at an advanced level and German at an intermediate level. I studied Philology in high school and I did my BS in Translation and Interpreting Italian-German at the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literature, at the University of Bucharest, where I am now pursuing my Master's Degree in Latino-Romance Translation Studies. I've been teaching English, Romanian, and Italian for more than 4 years now and I have worked with students from all over the world coming from different age groups: 5-56.

I always knew I wanted to be a teacher. Being raised by my grandmother, who was also a teacher, I learned the basic skills that, in my opinion, every good teacher has to have: patience, empathy, the desire to learn something every single day, and the wish to share it all with the students. Being a teacher is not only about knowing how to deliver information but also about how to break down the language barrier between people. In order to be a great teacher, you have to be interested in your student's life, you need to find a common ground and build your lessons upon that. If I had to describe my lessons using only three words, they would probably be: interactive, flexible, and unforgettable. Interactive because I always use conversation as a means of learning a foreign language, even teaching grammar based on real-life examples. Flexible because the one that decides the topic of the lesson is always the student: you can come up with your own idea or choose one of my options. Unforgettable simply because that is my mission and why I decided to become a teacher. We all remember that one teacher who made our lives better. After having 30 lessions with Casiana i can really tell you, that she is one of the best teachers available here. The difference between an very good teacher and Casiana is, that Casiana is full of joy, emotion and pleasure just to help you. If you dont know something, you can not only see, but feel the smile on her face to start telling you just right away. Its like a burning in her heart that has to put out, before she will not stop teaching you. No two lessions are the same, and on top of this, Casiana is the teacher you can ask anytime anything. Give here a try and learn romanian- its the most beautiful language out there. With Casiana, you will discover Romania from any possible view.

Today was my fourth lesson with Casiana. She's a great teacher - interactive/effective in communication, speaking loudly and clearly, attentive to your pronunciation to correct it if necessary, while still very encouraging. She is a polyglot who knows the needs of a foreign language learner. She usually reserves the last 5 minutes or so to cultural/history stuff which is good. We also share similar interest in word etymology!
