Hi! My name is Emily. I am a native English speaker from Saipan, a small island that is a part of a US territory called the CNMI. I currently live in Osaka, Japan, where I work as an English teacher. In my spare time, I study Japanese, so I understand the amount of work to learn another language. I find I learn best when my teacher is kind and patient when I make mistakes, and I hope to be the same with my students. My hobbies are reading, watching movies, and cooking/baking. I especially like trying new recipes from other cultures. It's not the same as flying to the country and eating the food there, but it's the second best thing.

I have a bachelors in International Business and am TEFL certified. I have been an iTalki teacher for about one year and have since focused on creating a friendly environment by being patient with my students. Students can make mistakes, and I will give feedback in the lesson. Along with being an iTalki teacher, I teach English in Japan. My students range from 85-years-old to 4-years-old. Some learn as a hobby while others learn for business. Some students have studied English for years and others can only say their name. Regardless of reason, age, or level, the students always improve as long as they show up regularly and try their best. I am always impressed by their progress.

✨The First Lesson: ▪️ Conversation Lessons - The first lesson will be a free talk conversation. We will get to know each other and figure out a plan for future lessons. We can either continue with free talk, read an article and discuss it, or have topics for each lessons. ▪️ Interview Lessons - If you want an interview, please book a conversation practice lesson first so we can discuss the details of your interview. The second lesson will be a mock interview. 🗣 Communication Tools: ▪️ Google Meets ▪️ iTalki Classroom ▪️ Skype After each lesson, you will receive a lesson overview that goes over what we covered, any corrections, and plans for next class. I loved meeting Emily! She didn't just teach me grammar, pronunciation and vocabulary, but also shared a little bit about Japan, Saipan and her learning methods, all within a 30 minute lesson. She was also very dedicated to writing notes that I can review later, and took my request to correct every mistake seriously, which really helped me understand what level I'm currently at.

A very pleasant teacher to talk to. An interesting conversationalist. I like that after each lesson she sends structured feedback - what mistakes there are, what is better to focus on, etc.
