Takuya

I've had a few lessons with Takuya San at this point, and I can confidently say he's a great teacher! For me personally, as a beginner, I really struggle with listening comprehension. I think the fact that Takuya uses direct method of teaching is really forcing me to listen carefully and kind of "switch my brain" if that makes sense. In addition, I'm always surprised by how quickly the time passes. I think this is because there are so many activities packed into each lesson. It all feels very dynamic and engaging. In addition, he has a very positive and patient spirit, so you feel at ease and comfortable making mistakes. Finally, I wanted to add that his schedule is super packed with classes yet somehow, he always comes to class very prepared. I really appreciate him as a teacher and would highly recommend him, even for someone who is a beginner like me!

Takuya-san is an inspiration of a teacher (and human, more generally). He comes to class with a gentle, affirming energy that creates a welcoming environment where it’s safe to try out new sentences, make mistakes, and learn from them. The effort he puts into his students’ success is very evident and is extra motivation for me to put in the time outside of class — reviewing his notes, listening to his recordings, writing my own journals — to make sure our class time is used well. Somehow, he is both exceedingly professional and relatable at the same time. He is clearly an experienced instructor and has a wealth of innovative language games, role plays, and discussion topics that can be easily integrated into lessons when we have a few minutes left of unplanned time. I’m grateful and truly lucky to have Takuya-san as a guide for my Japanese language journey!

Takuya Sensei, thank you for today’s lesson 😊 You have always been very dedicated and thoughtful in teaching me, and I truly appreciate all the guidance and support you’ve given me. Even though I still make mistakes often, you always patiently remind me, correct me, and encourage me, and I’m really grateful for that 🙏 Sometimes I feel frustrated because my Japanese is still not natural enough, especially with pronunciation and particles, but because of your patience, I feel more comfortable speaking little by little. Thank you not only for teaching me Japanese, but also for always making the lessons enjoyable and comfortable ✨ I really appreciate all the care and effort you put into every lesson, and I’m very thankful to have a teacher like you 😊
