Today was my first lesson with たくや先生, hoping to mainly focus on improving my speaking skills. I’ve used italki before for conversation practice when learning other languages, and those lessons were usually mostly free talk with a set theme. What really stood out to me was how much preparation this teacher had put into his lessons. He had prepared a wide range of structured materials, topics, content, and different ways to practise speaking, so the whole lesson felt very well structured and easy to follow. I believe it could make a tremendous difference in making progress when it comes to developing productive language skills. I found this much more helpful than simply having a casual conversation, because I could practise speaking in a more focused and meaningful way. He also took detailed notes during the lesson and will provide a PDF afterwards, which I think will be very useful for reviewing what we covered. I’m really looking forward to continuing my learning journey with たくや先生

I've had a few lessons with Takuya San at this point, and I can confidently say he's a great teacher! For me personally, as a beginner, I really struggle with listening comprehension. I think the fact that Takuya uses direct method of teaching is really forcing me to listen carefully and kind of "switch my brain" if that makes sense. In addition, I'm always surprised by how quickly the time passes. I think this is because there are so many activities packed into each lesson. It all feels very dynamic and engaging. In addition, he has a very positive and patient spirit, so you feel at ease and comfortable making mistakes. Finally, I wanted to add that his schedule is super packed with classes yet somehow, he always comes to class very prepared. I really appreciate him as a teacher and would highly recommend him, even for someone who is a beginner like me!

The class was very well structured and on-point. Most of the lesson time was dedicated to giving me opportunities to speak, followed by concise feedback from the teacher. This back-and-forth speaking format is extremely helpful for improving conversational Japanese, as it allows me to learn how native speakers naturally express themselves and pick up useful sentence structures that I can apply in future conversations.

I’ve taken many lessons with 拓也先生, and I always look forward to our time together. He is kind, patient, and very easy to talk to, which makes me feel comfortable speaking Japanese without worrying about making mistakes. One of my favorite things about his lessons is the variety. He uses many different activities and teaching methods, so the lessons never feel repetitive. We practice conversation, vocabulary, grammar, and many interesting topics that encourage me to express myself more naturally in Japanese. I also really appreciate how well he understands what I need to improve. His lessons are relaxed and enjoyable, and it often feels like having a great conversation while learning Japanese at the same time. I’m truly grateful for all his patience, encouragement, and effort. I’ve learned so much from 拓也先生, and he has made learning Japanese something I genuinely enjoy and always look forward to. I feel very lucky to have him as my teacher! 😊

I highly recommend Takuya-sensei! He is a very patient, supportive, and dedicated teacher. Even when I struggle to answer a question, he never gives up on me. He patiently guides me, gives me time to think, and encourages me to express myself in complete sentences. He also has many different resources and learning materials, so his lessons can be adjusted to what you want to improve, whether it’s conversation, reading, listening, grammar, vocabulary, or pronunciation. His lessons are always enjoyable, relaxed, and full of useful Japanese. I have taken hundreds of lessons with him, and I can definitely see how much my Japanese and speaking confidence have improved. If you’re looking for a patient, well-prepared, encouraging teacher who truly cares about helping you improve, I highly recommend Takuya-sensei! 😊
