Chie Nowa

I've been learning with Chieko-Sensei for a few months now and couldn't be happier with our lessons. She's a very kind and helpful teacher who is always willing to explore with me. Even though I'm still relatively early in my Japanese journey our lessons are comprehensible. She is really good at meeting me where I'm at language-wise and explains things so well I don't need my native language to understand. I look forward to our lessons every week, and each time they're over I feel both a little bit more connected to the language and culture, and a little bit more excited to try my best.

Talking with Chieko-sensei about day-to-day things or shared interests is always a pleasure, and she does a great job of providing interesting lesson materials that match my level. Her lessons are a great "comprehensible output" companion to my Japanese study through the Comprehensible Input method, and I would recommend them to anyone who wants to learn Japanese and improve their conversational skills in a natural and comfortable way.

Chie-san is an excellent practitioner of the comprehensible input style of teaching and I really appreciate her lessons. This style of teaching is fairly rare on the platform and Chie-san clearly has great experience teaching with it. The expectations of your performance during the lesson is suited for low-pressure learning. I feel very comfortable bumbling through broken Japanese responses. She is very flexible on topic and will seamlessly transition from a structured topic to an unstructured topic about your life. Its fun!

Chieko san is an outstanding teacher who follows the principles of Comprehensible Input in her lessons. Thanks to her thoughtful and engaging teaching style, I feel confident that I can learn Japanese naturally, just as I would acquire a first language. She creates an environment where understanding and communication come first, which makes learning enjoyable and effective. I highly recommend Chieko san to anyone looking to immerse themselves in Japanese in a way that feels intuitive and stress-free.
