* Hello, my name is Carlos. I was born and raised in Venezuela, but currently living in Chile.
* Certified Mechanical Engineer by trade, but more recently have made the transition into programming with Python and Java
* My classes will be mainly conducted in Spanish, but I am able to communicate some concepts in English.
* Please, confirm the class after finishing it.
*NOTE: I use the FREE version of ZOOM, which means that if you choose that platform for our lessons, the session may be terminated by Zoom after 40 minutes of lesson time, with a 10 minute window to reset.
I suggest the following:
For 30-45-60 min lessons --> Teams / GoogleMeet / ItalkiClassroom.

I am a certified Spanish teacher and I am a very patient and understanding teacher and will help you to the best of my ability with your goals. My lessons usually focus on the listening and speaking aspects of the language; however, if you so choose, I would be happy to offer grammar lessons as well.
If you have ever been interested in learning Spanish, I encourage you to take the leap as learning a new language can be very rewarding. Whether you are starting from a basic, intermediate or advanced level, I look forward to having conversations that include: current events, hobbies, things you see on the internet and much more. I offer speaking and listening lessons where students are encouraged to choose a topic of interest for conversation practice. If you are interested in grammar lessons, I use a variety of exercises to help you understand new concepts that you may not always find in your native language. During our lessons, I note the needed areas of improvement and provide feedback.
Do not worry about making mistakes, it’s all part of the learning process!

Exactly one year ago today, I took my first italki lesson with Carlos. He is a great teacher - knowledgeable energetic, kind, patient, the list goes on, but what I really want to highlight is that learning Spanish with him has been a rewarding experience for me.
I never wanted to learn Spanish, but due to some life changes, I found myself in Peru unable to speak the language.
Within a few months of learning from Carlos, I went from zero to being able to communicate with people. The work that went into that was a lot from both our parts, but I’m grateful for all the lessons and his patience with me when I was frustrated with the language at times. He has also taught me a lot about Latin American culture and I have grown to have an appreciation for South America that I never had before.
I have more than enough words to have full conversations with locals and live life now, but my goal has changed - I want to be fluent because Carlos has inspired me to be.

I have already taken formal classes. Now I need practice and reinforcement of what I've already learned. Carlos is aware that I want to work on listening, speaking and interacting, and we do this with discussions on interesting topics where he encourages a back and forth conversation (with his corrections along the way, verbally and also written when he can see that I don't quite understand). Until now I have been reticent to try speaking in Spanish and the sessions are definitely helping me to get past my fears. Sometimes I will worry about how it will go (because of me) but then the time flies by!

Carlos is a very empathetic, intelligent, and patient teacher. I couldn’t ask for anyone better. He is full of energy, motivation, and passion, and he has a very unique and effective way of teaching. I started with him as an absolute beginner, and now, two months later, we can have two hours of conversation, including questions and answers. I absolutely recommend him as a teacher.
