I have been taking classes with Cana for nearly three years now. She always brings enthusiasm to the class. She has a gift for finding topics to talk about and being enthused about whatever I say. She’s very skillful at managing the need to keep a conversation flowing well while also noting grammar points that I need to work on. She is quite cheerful and always makes the class fun. After class she always sends me a document with the keywords or grammar points from our conversation. She also sends me a sound file with her saying those words, often in a sentence. She must put much more time into each one hour class than the length of the class alone would suggest. I would guess that I am an upper intermediate speaker. Although I still have a long way to go, I feel like I owe her so much for helping me to improve my Chinese speaking level. If you are looking for a conversation class do yourself a favor and book an hour with her. She is the teacher that you are hoping to find.

Cana keeps lessons engaging by challenging me—she always checks whether I know a word before explaining it, which strengthens my recall. She gives examples, lets me try speaking, and then explains any mistakes patiently. She adds helpful notes directly onto the textbook. After class, she also sends audio recordings of the vocabulary, which makes review much easier. Her lessons are well-structured because she follows the textbook closely, making each topic easier to understand and remember, and she’s very generous with her time.
