Chizuru(Chee)

Today we had an interesting lesson on the various talismans that exist in Okinawa and the cultural /historical significance behind them. It was enlightening to learn how and why the talismans are decorated throughout streets and homes. We had a quiz and discussion on talismans and beliefs that are used in my country.

Chizuru-san was very patient and kind to my son who took his first Japanese class today. He learned how to greet, read hiragana characters, and combine hiragana characters to create simple words. I look forward to having my son take more lessons from Chizuru-san.

Today I had the opportunity to learn about the factors in Okinawa's lifestyle that lead to health, longevity, and the mindset of positive personal relationships with others. I enjoyed learning about the healthy dishes and unique combinations of ingredients that make the dishes delicious and healthy. I learned lots of new vocabulary words and had a fun quiz at the end of class.

Teacher Chee really works well with my language targets : we discuss lesson plans together , and if I don't have my lap-op handy , she forgives and we use the Smart phone instead (which sometimes scrambles up her lessons), thank you for your diligent teaching !

Today I had an enlightening and informative lesson on Shisa Dog statues that are decorated throughout Okinawa. It was interesting to learn about the history behind them, the cultural significance and how and why they came to be decorated throughout Okinawa. It was fun to read aloud, learn vocabulary words, kanji, and reading comprehension that incorporated historical facts on Shisa Dogs.
