Hello this is Elaine, I'm from Hong Kong, and now being a tutor in Italki, Cantonese is my mother tongue, and I can also speak fluent Mandarin. I like spending time with nature, that's why I like hiking, kayaking and cycling. Sometimes I also like spending time with myself, like doing meditation, growing plants at home, reading and watching a movie.

My style is casual, informal, and more focus on your self-expression and our daily chitchat interaction, I tend to be your companion instead of your tutor, I would also like to be the medium to help you to get into our culture.

From my yearly experience in learning languages, the faster way to master a language should be input and absorb different vocabularies, I will prepare some story books, article and cartoon to help you to memorize the vocabularies, and understand the meaning easily. Besides, interacting and practicing regularly are also important, because you are outputting what you have learnt, and it could also keep you memories fresh. For achieving this goal, I will play different games with you, like role play and card game. Lastly, you also need to do some homework, like making a sentence we learnt in our class or you need to practice a Chinese or Cantonese song and sing it in the upcoming lesson

I had a good introductory lesson with Elaine. She is very friendly and was well prepared for the lesson. She helped me with my pronunciation and we also covered some new vocabulary.
