Hi! I'm Daryl, from the Philippines, currently living in the USA.🗽I am a professional in the sciences (chemistry👨‍🔬) and now a new teacher on italki! I am passionate about travel (and planning for them), trying out different food🍜, and meeting different people, learning about other cultures as well. if that's not enough variety, I will say I also do music & audio editing as a hobby!🎵🎛 I went into English teaching after realizing how hard it is to learn languages. I have seen people struggle with English, which made me appreciate that I became fluent in it when I was still a kid. English really opens a lot of doors and I felt like I wanted to start helping people who need it improve!🏆

I am TEFL-certified, earning it from International TEFL Academy, with 150 hours of coursework and 20 hours of practical instruction. I can best teach those who can identify themselves as lower intermediate to higher intermediate. I describe myself as lively, youthful, patient and dedicated. If I'll have you for multiple or continuous sessions, it is very important for me to see if there's improvement in you. I can help you with general conversational English, reading/writing/comprehension skills, pronunciation, English in the American context, grammar, sentence/text construction, technical/scientific writing, academic/workplace English, or English proficiency test preparation (e.g. IELTS).

When we first meet, I will need to know about your specific goals and what you would expect of me. I will adjust my approach or style if needed. I will personalize my lessons for each student, and it is important for me that I will plan lessons that are fun and engaging. My lessons will be structured and I will tend to focus on details. Expect that I may use a lot of online sources where helpful. We can follow a lesson, story/poem, or article online or watch videos. Expect that I will evaluate your progress with tests and I personally like to craft my own questions. For conversational English sessions, I will let students talk more, giving them more chances to practice their English.
