Hi everyone! This is Karen from Guangzhou, China. Guangzhou is a city full of history and diversity. As a Cantonese who was born and grew up in Guangzhou, I'm very interested in language learning and teaching. I can speak Mandarin Chinese and Cantonese as my mother tongues, fluent English, and some Japanese and Thai language. In my spare time, I like cooking, hiking and ballet. I have been a Chinese teaching volunteer for overseas students at college for 4 years and a tutor in a language training institution for kids for 3 years. I have made friends from Thailand, Pakistan, Equatorial Guinea, etc. I also organized and participated in some cross-cultural events like visiting local attraction, making paper cuttings and introducing “Yum Cha” culture of Guangdong. I bring systematized and careful explanation in my lesson. Meanwhile I have specific teaching plans for different students. Karen was great! She saw I was having difficulty and adjusted her speaking to my level, and I had a really easy time with her. She gave good feedback throughout the lesson and corrected me on grammar and pronunciation as I requested, and at the end, she gave me insight in my speaking which was helpful and showed she really paid attention through the lesson.
