This work consists of seven chapters and a short epilogue. From the point of view of its narrative technique it should be placed somewhere between an autobiography, a cycle of short stories or sketches, and a novel. Special attention is devoted to a big mudhole by one of the main roads, Which causes numerous accidents and troubles, but it never filled up—A symbol of the traditionalism and inertia ruling the lives of the inhabitants. The second chapter gives a picture of the Annual festivals of the town and other special events, Such as the sorceress being invited to cure illness in a family. In the 3rd and 4th Chapters The narrative changes from the third to the first person with reminiscences of a more personal kind from the author's childhood, Especially her intimate and warm relationship with her grandfather. The daughter of a landlord in the town, she spends her pre-school days playing and “helping” her kindly grandfather To grow vegetables in the garden of the compound.

Wo wohnen Sie? That is, “particular arguments for the resurrection.” Lines six to eight are derived from a medieval story of a mortal Who lived by the sea and regularly went out on a raft. One evening, in the 7th month, he came to a bank where he encountered A herd boy and weaving maids. It was sometimes said that the celestial river of stars connected to the worldly ocean at the edge of the sky. He only realized later that his raft had that evening carried him into the sky. This must refer to the flute piece known as “Plum Blossoms, 3 tunes.” This line probably alludes to the flute melody “Plum blossoms Fall.” The Lantern Festival fell on the 15th day of the New Year (hence also known as the 15th, As in the second stanza), which was the first full moon of the year.
