日本の夏の飲み物といえば、麦茶がとても人気です。麦茶は苦くなくて、飲みやすいです。カフェインフリーなので、子供にもおすすめです。抹茶やほうじ茶もおいしいですが、麦茶もぜひ試してみてください。
あなたの好きな夏の飲み物はなんですか？

【with ひらがな】
日本（にほん）の夏（なつ）の飲（の）み物（もの）といえば、麦茶（むぎちゃ）がとても人気（にんき）です。
麦茶（むぎちゃ）は苦（にが）くなくて、飲（の）みやすいです。カフェインフリーなので、子供（こども）にもおすすめです。
抹茶（まっちゃ）やほうじ茶（ちゃ）もおいしいですが、ぜひ麦茶（むぎちゃ）も試（ため）してみてください。

【English】
When it comes to summer drinks in Japan, barley tea is very popular. Barley tea is not bitter, so it’s easy to drink. Since it’s caffeine-free, it’s also recommended for children. Matcha and hojicha are delicious too, but please try barley tea as well.

【Grammar Notes】
🔶～といえば    Speaking of〜 / When you comes to〜
Example: 
日本の夏の飲み物といえば、麦茶がとても人気です。
When it comes to summer drinks in Japan, barley tea is very popular.
イタリアといえば、ピザやパスタが有名です。
Speaking of Italy, pizza and pasta are famous.

🔶Verb Stem (the form before ます)  ＋やすい 　easy to 〜
Example: 
麦茶は苦くなくて飲みやすいです。
Barley tea is not bitter and is easy to drink.
このペンはとても書きやすいです。
This pen is very easy to write with.

🔶〜てみる　try to ~
麦茶も試してみてください。
Please try barley tea as well.

*ためしてみる can be translated to "try to try" or "try to see." It might sound repetitive, but it's common expression.

とんこつラーメンを食べてみたいです。
I want to try to eat tonkotsu ramen.

#3 麦茶　The Taste of Summer

【Script】
日本では、季節によってクローゼットの服を入れ替える「ころもがえ」という習慣があります。学校でも冬と夏の制服があって、６月１日ごろから夏の制服を着ます。制服が変わると、季節の変化を感じることができます。
あなたの国でも、夏の制服と冬の制服がありますか？

【with ひらがな】
日本（にほん）では、季節（きせつ）によってクローゼットの服（ふく）を入（い）れ替（か）える「ころもがえ」という習慣（しゅうかん）があります。学校でも冬と夏の制服があって、６月１日（ろくがつついたち）ごろから夏（なつ）の制服（せいふく）を着（き）ます。制服（せいふく）が変（か）わると、季節（きせつ）の変化（へんか）を感（かん）じることができます。
あなたの国（くに）でも、夏（なつ）の制服（せいふく）と冬の制服（せいふく）がありますか？

【English】
In Japan, there is a custom called "Koromogae," where people switch the clothes in their closets depending on the season. Schools also have winter and summer uniforms, and they start wearing summer ones around June 1st. When uniforms change, you can feel the seasonal transition.
Does your country also have summer and winter uniforms?

入れ替える（いれかえる）　ー　to switch / to replace 　*ru-verb

【Grammar Notes】
🔶Noun + によって (Depending on) 
Example: 
季節（きせつ）によって服（ふく）を入（い）れ替（か）えます。
We switch clothes depending on the season.
人（ひと）によって意見（いけん）が違（ちが）います。
Opinions differ depending on the person.

🔶Noun + という + Item　(Item) called (Noun)
Example: 
ころもがえという習慣（しゅうかん）
A custom called Koromogae　
ラッシーという犬
A dog called Lassie
渋谷（しぶや）という町（まち）
A town called Shibuya


🔶Verb (Dictionary Form) + ことができる  be able to~/can~
Example: 
季節（きせつ）の変化（へんか）を感（かん）じることができます。
You can feel the change.

日本語（にほんご）を話（はな）すことができます。
I can speak Japanese.

*This expression sounds a bit more formal than かんじられる、はなせる.



#2 ころもがえ　Changing Clothes for the New Season

【Script】
日本のお店に入ると、いつも「いらっしゃいませ！」と言われます。はじめて日本に来た人は、なんと返事をしたらいいか困ってしまいますね。実は、返事はしなくてもいいんです。かわりに、笑顔で少しおじぎをするといいですよ。
あなたの国では、お店に入るとき、何と言われますか？

【with ふりがな】
日本（にほん）のお店（みせ）に入（はい）ると、いつも「いらっしゃいませ！」と言（い）われます。はじめて日本（にほん）に来（き）た人（ひと）は、なんと返事（へんじ）をしたらいいか困（こま）ってしまいますね。実（じつ）は、返事（へんじ）はしなくてもいいのです。かわりに、笑顔（えがお）で少（すこ）しおじぎをするといいですよ。
あなたの国（くに）では、お店（みせ）にはいるとき、何（なん）と言（い）われますか ？

【English】
When you enter a store in Japan, you are always told  "Irasshaimase!" People coming to Japan for the first time might be troubled, not knowing how to reply. Actually, you don't have to say anything back. Instead, it is nice to just give a small bow with a smile. In your country, what are you told when you enter a shop?

【Vocabulary】
いらっしゃいませ　ー　Welcome (to our store)!
入（はい）る　ー　enter　*u-verb
はじめて　ー　for the first time
聞（き）こえる　ー　to hear *ru-verb

【Grammar Notes】
🔶言う→言われる　Passive Verb 
In a passive sentence, the person affected by the action becomes the subject.

Example:
(Active)「いらっしゃいませ」と言います。　They say "Irassyaimase!" 
(Passive)「いらっしゃいませ！」と言われます。　You are told  "Irasshaimase!" 

🔶〜なくてもいいです don't have to~
Example:
返事（へんじ）をしなくてもいいんです。　
You don't have to respond.
明日（あした）は休（やす）みですから、早（はや）く起（お）きなくてもいいですよ。
Tomorrow is a holiday, so you don't have to get up early.

🔶〜といいですよ　It would be good to~
Friendly way to give advice or suggestions

Example:
おじぎをするといいですよ。
It is nice to give a bow.
この本（ほん）を読（よ）むといですよ。
I recommend reading this book.
