Holding the stone his mother gave him, he faces the uncertainty of a new life. As the household stirs, Neil shares his first breakfast with his aunt, uncle, and cousins, before being introduced to the daily routine of Canadian farm life — feeding chickens, hauling water, and checking the fences.
