안녕하세요, 여러분! 오늘은 한국의 인기 넷플릭스 프로그램, [Culinary Class Wars-흑백요리사]라는 프로그램에 등장하는 재미있는 캐릭터와 한국의 급식 문화에 대해서 이야기해 보려고 해요.

먼저 이 프로그램의 캐릭터 중 하나인 급식대가 (Geupsik Daega)를 소개할게요. 
급식대가는 '급식'과 '대가'라는 단어의 합성어로, 영어로는 [Master of School Meals]라는 의미로 번역되죠. 말 그대로 학교 급식을 책임지는 대가, 최고 전문가라는 뜻이에요.

여기서 급식이라는 단어는 그냥 school lunch, 그러니까 학교에서 제공되는 급식을 뜻하는데요. 
재미있게도, 한국에서는 급식을 먹는 초등학생이나 중,고등학생들을 그냥 ‘급식’이라고 부르기도 해요. 

한국에서는 급식 외에도 학생들의 학교 생활이나 직장인 생활을 재미있게 표현하는 단어들이 있어요. 예를 들어서요:

✅초딩은 초등학생을 뜻하지만, 어른이 어린아이처럼 행동할 때 가볍게 “초딩 같다”라고 놀릴 때도 쓰여요. 그래서 조금 미숙하거나 성숙하지 못한 사람을 얕잡아 볼 때 사용되기도 해요.
"아, 진짜 유치해. 너 초딩이냐?" 
이렇게요.

✅[중딩]은 중학생
✅[고딩]은 고등학생을 뜻해요. 그리고 
✅[대딩]은 대학생을, 
✅[직딩]은 직장인을 뜻하죠.
✅[학식]이라는 단어는 college cafeteria food를 의미해요. 대학생들이 먹는 학식을 의미하기도 하고, 학식을 주로 먹는 대학생들을 지칭하는 표현으로도 쓰여요.

어때요, 이런 표현들 재미있지 않나요? 한국의 급식부터 직장인의 직딩까지 다양한 표현들이 한국의 일상 속에서 쓰이고 있어요.

Welcome to learn easy Thai with Kru sumon.  

Today we will learn how to speak Thai from a short conversation during a phone call.  This is a conversation between A and B. 

A : สวัสดีค่ะ  ขอสาย คุณแมรี่ ค่ะ
(sa-wad-dee kha , khor saai khun Mary kha)

B: รอซักครุ่ค่ะ ... ขอโทษนะคะ คุณแมรี่ ไม่อยุ่ค่ะ ให้โทรกลับมั้ยคะ
(ror sak khroo kha.  Khor tote na kha. Khun Mary mai yoo kha. Hai toe glap mai kha?)

A: ไม่เป็นไรค่ะ เดี๋ยวโทรมาใหม่
(mai bpen rai kha.  Diao toe maa mai)

This is a situation where A made a phone call and B picked up the phone. A is asking for Mary.
B. told A to wait and then inform that Mary is not in. 
B asked if A want Mary to call her back.
A said No.

From this conversation , we learn that :

When you make a phone call , and ask for some one. You will say
ขอสาย ...................  (khor saai ……………)
followed by the name of person

or you also can add one more word here 
ขอสาย .................. หน่อย  (khor saai……….. noi)
put Noi at the end to soften the sentence.


when you want someone to wait, you will say
รอซักครู่  (ror sak kroo)
= wait a moment , please

When you want to say “Sorry”, you will say
ขอโทษ  (khor tote)  = sorry

When you want to ask if the listener want the person to call him or her back, you will say
ให้โทรกลับมั้ย (hai toe glab mai?)  = Do you want (the person) to call you back?

If you want to refuse this question, you will say
ไม่เป็นไร  
Actually ไม่เป็นไร means , that’s fine. It doesn’t matter. I am ok.

When you want to say I will call back later, you will say
เดี๋ยวโทรกลับมาใหม่  (diao toe glab maa mai) = I will call back later.
