English Sounds 2: Consonants Your Language May Not Have | IELTS #006
說明
Level A1 (approx. band below 3) · Academic and General Training
Consonants are sounds like p, t, f, v and s. Every language has its own set. When English has a sound that your language does not have, you use the nearest sound from your language.
In this episode:
• The two th sounds
• V and w, p and f, p and b
• R and l, and the z sound
• Last sounds and groups of consonants
• Listening lab
• Language bridge
• Practice
• Self-check questions with answers
Key points:
• tongue lightly between the teeth for both th sounds; one is only air, one has a buzz.
• v and f use the teeth on the lip; w and p do not.
• l touches, r does not; z is a long buzz, j starts with a touch.
• say the last sound, and do not add extra vowels.
